A setback at Croft
Croft – 6/7 May 2023
Race 3 & 4
I started off with a great qualifying result of P2 and in race 1 fought my way into the lead until multiple contacts from another competitior (who was subsequently disqualified) broke my suspension. Due to this being the last lap and me not knowing how bad the damage was I tried to continue which resulted in me ending up in a wall sideways at nearly 70mph.
Unfortunately my car was totalled but the team did an amazing job to swap my engine over into the spare car and get me back out the next day.
After starting dead last in P27 I made my way all the way to P9 at the chequered flag in an unfamiliar car with an unfamiliar setup and many little differences to get used to on the fly.
There’s a few positives to take away this weekend. The pace was absolutely mega, proven in both race 1 and race 2 and I’m happy to take away a new lap record for the championship!
However, I’m battered and bruised and I’ve got to somehow pull the budget together to fix my car and get back out there in a months time at my home track, Oulton Park.
I want to thank everyone who sent me messages asking if I was okay after my crash and also the team for working hard and giving me the opportunity to get back out there. A big thank you also needs to go to the Croft medical crew and marshals for checking me over multiple times and giving me the all clear to race.
I can only look forwards from here. Onto the next one.
